When it comes time to move, the packing process is one of the first big obstacles that you have to deal with. Here at Quality Moving & Storage we can help with the packing process, as well as moving your items to your new home with ease. But, for those who are packing up smaller things before we arrive, here are some odd packing hacks that others swear by working to make packing easier.

Most everyone who has moved before knows how frustrating it can be when you pack something up, only to find that it is broken or has spilled when you arrive at your new location. These types of issues happen when items are not packed properly. So, here are a few hacks that you may want to use on certain items!

1. When packing shoes, put shower caps on the shoes. This is so that no matter how clean they are, you don’t feel like everything that was packed in the box needs to be washed. The shower cap is going to provide protection for the shoes, plus you will find it can help to keep these together!

2. When packing makeup, like powder compacts, you will find that putting in a cotton pad into the compact is going to help to avoid breaking. While you may keep makeup with you, if you are busy throwing your bags into a car, you will find that it can break, so this is one of those tips that you may always want to use.

3. If you are not using a wardrobe box for your jackets, then packing these can lead to wrinkles. One of the hacks out there is to pack this inside out so that the exterior of the jacket is protected from wrinkles. However, the best bet is to use a wardrobe box!

4. If you are packing up your shorts, shirts, and other clothing items, instead of folding these into the box, try to roll them. Those who do this often find that the shirts come out without the creases and wrinkles that folding can cause.

5. Will you be moving when it is raining? While you may not have rain boots, you can waterproof your current shoes that you are wearing with beeswax. This is an environmentally friendly solution that ensures your feet stay dry.

6. If you want to ensure that your collared shirts stay in good shape, consider putting your belt through the collar to allow them to stay stiff...much like you find the cardboard in these when they are first purchased. Plus, it allows you to put the belt to good use and know exactly where it is at once you unpack.

For those who are moving, these hacks could be of good use to ensure that when unpacking you are not making more work for yourself!
