For those who are moving, they are going to find that a big part of this process, is gaining closure with this move. This is especially important for those who have children, who may or may not be on board with moving. However, there are a few ways in which you can make this move easier, through providing a few ways in which the entire family can gain closure!
1.Have a going away party and if you have kids, ensure that they invite some of their closest friends to this party. You want to celebrate this move and not make it seem as though this is a punishment.
2.Take a picture of the entire family in front of your old home so that they have this to view in later years.
3.Try to visit your old hometown within one year of moving to your new home so that the entire family can visit those old memories, friends and locations again.
4.Ensure your children that they can make phone calls, send postcards, write letters, and emails to those that they are leaving behind. This can make transitioning just a bit easier.
5.Take time to explore your new community, as it can make it easier for everyone to see that they are moving to a new area that has a lot to offer.
Moving isn’t always easy for people. Especially in situations in which someone really does not want to move, but they have to due to family issues, a new job or the like. When this is the case, it is important that everyone gets closure. Above all else, look at this move as a new adventure in your life, and embrace the direction in which your life is going!
