When you think about moving, even if you are moving across town, it may seem like a long distance when you consider all that goes into moving. However, long distance moving in the moving industry is often when you are moving from one side of the state to the other side, or even moving three states away.

There are tons of moving myths out there, and many of these are centered around long distance moving. We are going to look at a few of these myths and why you should not fall victim to believing these myths!

Myth 1: Long distance moving will be easier and cheaper if you do this yourself

This is a huge false statement! If you take into consideration all that goes into a long distance move, you are going to find that doing it yourself is not going to be any easier. Long distance move is a challenge as it requires making sure that everything is packed to handle hundreds of miles in a truck; it requires the truck getting these hundreds of miles to your new location; and then of course the actual loading and unloading of the truck. If you try to do this yourself, it is going to be a huge burden.

Myth 2: Long distance moving means avoiding taking everything that you own

This is not necessarily true. While we encourage everyone before any type of move to take some time to declutter, just because you are having a long distance move means that you need to get rid of everything and start from scratch. A long distance move should be treated as any other move. If you want to take these items with you, then we can make it happen. If there are duplicates or old items that you no longer want, then donate these to someone who will want them.

Myth 3: It doesn’t matter who you hire for your long distance move

This is perhaps the biggest myth that people believe when it comes to a long distance move or any move for that matter. It most certainly matters who you are hiring to move you!
