When it comes to a move, you may be worried about getting items packed, the movers arranged, and the like. You probably are not thinking about protecting your floors and carpets during this move. This is something that you start thinking about when items are being moved out of the home. The good news is that when you work with professional movers that have your best interests at heart, like Quality Moving & Storage, we are going to take steps to protect these floors and carpets for you. However, for those who want to be prepared in all ways for their move, we have a few methods that you can use to help protect your floors and carpets!
Here are some things that you can do to ensure that you do not damage the floors:
1. Do not drag any furniture to a new location. If you hire us, we will get these larger items out of the way with our tools so don’t worry about dragging this on your own.
2. Be sure to have a doormat on the outside of the entry to ensure that everyone can wipe their feet if needed.
3. Do you have some old rugs? Then throw these down. You aren’t too worried about these old rugs, so let them add some protection to your floors and carpets.
4. Have cardboard that you can lay down on floors and carpets, especially in doorways where there may be a small bump to overcome, as this ensures this does not become damaged with moving heavier items.
5. Floor runners, heavy tarps or plastic, are great to have when moving in and out of a home. You will find that these items can provide a ton of cover to the floors and ensure that nothing becomes damaged.
The best advice for how to protect the floors and carpets in your old home and/or new home is to hire the right movers to handle this. We have over twenty years of experience in moving residential and/or commercial buildings. That experience ensures we know just what to do in order to protect your floors and carpets!
